CNAs: What's Your Stress Level?

Printer-friendly version

There's no doubt about it...working in the nursing field is stressful.  So, how is your stress level these days?  Try taking this quick little "Stress Test" (developed by clinical psychologist Dan Johnston) to see if you could use a little stress management.

Remember...when stress becomes a way of life, it can lead to health problems--from tension headaches to heart attacks, ulcers and even cancer.  In fact, up to 75% of disease may be stress-related!

So, if the results of your Stress Test show that you could use some tips on how to reduce and/or manage your stress, consider completing our Stress Management Skills inservice.  It might be the best thing you do for your health this month!

Take good care,

my stress

I love my job but getting hard to take care of others when I can't take care of myself (I can't afford health insurance). Low-income clinics are a joke- can barely handle basic health needs- using ER for treatment several times a year and can't pay my bills. :( :(

Reading Skills

Hi, LaVonda,

Being a CNA does require some reading skills.  You have to read a care plan for each patient/resident that you have and, in some workplaces, you have to fill out forms on each patient.

How about checking with a local nursing home or home health agency and talk to them about your options.  Or, call the Nurse Aide Registry for your state and ask them what you can do.

GOOD LUCK!

Linda
